Percy Pearl
I’m Percy Pearl (they/ them), a humanistic counsellor working one-to-one with clients in Brighton and online. My counselling approach is existentially-informed: I offer a welcoming space to explore your questions around existence, relationships and uncertainty, strengthening your sense of agency, and enabling your insights to emerge in their own time. This therapeutic relationship can bring about awareness and acceptance that lead to transformation.
I’m passionate about social justice, liberatory processes and ecological concerns, and critical of the idea of the isolated self-sustaining individual. Inner and outer are not separate; individual, social, cultural and ecological are interdependent and always touching.
My practice is anti-oppressive and LGBTQIA+ affirmative, underpinned by my long background as an arts-based facilitator using creative approaches to make difficult questions accessible. I support and champion gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. I subscribe to the social model of disability and try to make my practice as accessible as possible.
Having completed a postgraduate diploma in humanistic counselling and psychotherapy, I’m committed to my ongoing vocational growth. I’m currently studying an MSc in Psychotherapy at Brighton University, and have undertaken recent additional training in:
Trans affirmative practice
Climate cafe facilitation and working with eco-emotions
Anti-racist practice
Grief and mourning practices
Ecopsychology
I meet clients weekly in a practice room at Brighton’s beautiful Queer Therapy Hub. We can also work online. I offer a free 20-minute initial phone conversation so we can meet and talk about your needs before we decide whether to begin working together. Email [email protected] to set up a call.
My fee for weekly counselling is £50 per 50 minute session. I am committed to offering therapy for people facing marginalisation, so I offer some concessionary spaces for people on low incomes.
