Sophie Eliades (she/her)
A good therapeutic relationship has the power to start a process of real change, self-compassion and empowerment.
I describe my practice as Humanistic but I’m aware that this often doesn’t mean much to a new client. Fundamentally I am interested in building a relationship with a client that feels safe and containing but also where we can look at patterns of relationship, thoughts or behaviour that have become unhelpful or restrictive. I centre my work around things I feel passionate about and areas where we often need support to explore safely like trauma, anxiety, suicide and depression.
I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced sexual violence or have a history of sexual abuse as children or adults.
I am an intersectional feminist and am interested in the impact of patriarchal oppression on people of all genders, intersex and endosex people. I understand the importance of access to safe therapy free from intrusive questioning around gender, sex, sexuality or relationship structure unless it’s what a client needs to talk about. I support a total ban on trans conversion therapy
I am always interested in therapy’s capacity to explore and question systemic racist or colonial power structures.
I have ADHD and dyslexia and welcome clients with neurodiversity of all kinds
I qualified in 2015, am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and fully insured.
I offer a free 30 min initial consultation, either face-to-face or online.
